To start our year off, we having been discussing what it means to have grit. This is a conversation we revisit daily. Why? Because life is hard and we need to learn how to persevere. I model what it looks like to work through difficult moments, either in teaching or in everyday situations. We talk about moments we need to be "grittier" than others. I acknowledge when students show grit and let them know that I am proud. My goal here is for students to become persistent even when the task at hand is challenging. Last week we created Grit Tweets and today we watched a quick video discussing what it takes to have grit.
Persistence + Resilience = Grit.
Having a conversation with your child about the times in your life when you needed to be persistent will help fuel the mindset of never giving up.
