Hello parents and students and welcome back to another school year!
It was hard saying goodbye to summer and all the sun and sand that it brings, but there's something about September that I absolutely love. Preparing a classroom for students is one of my favorite things to do. From writing names on school supplies to cutting scrapbook paper and laminating silly posters, I thoroughly enjoy the process of starting a new school year. I love all the new! The new folders, new pencils, newly polished floors and the NEW STUDENTS! Each year my students make me a better teacher and as I embark on my sixth year of teaching, I am eager to see how this group can make me a better me.
As our first week came and went, we talked about our summer adventures and all the places we traveled. We learned fun facts about one another, sang songs that we couldn't get out of our heads and played games that built problem solving skills. We also talked about what makes our classroom a family and how to be more awesome. The classroom community is important to me. Before I can begin to teach, my students must feel comfortable with not only me but their peers as well. This is why I stress the importance of developing a strong community of learners who can trust and rely on one another. We have 175 more days together and my goal is to make each day more awesome.
Each month I will post a blog about the happenings in our class as well as post images of the students learning. I will send out email updates with the link to our classroom website as well. Stay tuned for more!
Lastly, thank you very much for the classroom supplies! I know the supply list asks for a lot but your student is now very equipped, organized and ready for the year ahead.
